What to bring
- Bring a water bottle. Hot drinks provided.
- Suitable footwear- old trainers, wetsuits boots/shoes (no flipflops or crocs)
- Wetsuit and buoyancy aid if you have, or we can provide.
- Windproof jacket and trousers.
- Warm base layers to change into.
RYA LEVEL 1 DINGHY SAILING
Course pre requisites Level 1
- 14 years plus
- Must be able to swim.
Understanding the RYA level 1 Sailing Course: (approx. 16 hrs)
The RYA Level 1 sailing course serves as an introduction to the world of sailing. It is suitable for beginners with little to no prior experience. During this course, participants will learn the basics of boat handling, including rigging, launching, and recovery. They will also gain an understanding of essential sailing terminology, wind awareness, and basic sailing techniques. By the end of the course, participants will be able to sail a dinghy in light winds under supervision.

RYA LEVEL 2 DINGHY SAILING
Course pre requisites Level 2
- 16 years plus
- Must be able to swim.
- Level 1 sailing ability
Understanding the RYA level 2 Sailing Course:
The level 2 course is the next step, setting out the foundations of sailing for you, sailing ability along with theoretical knowledge is assumed to be up to level 1 standard. The course consists of rigging a dinghy with minimal help, understanding how to launch a boat in different wind directions, and learning standard sailing manoeuvres. The course also covers essential safety knowledge to be used when sailing. Once level 2 has been achieved the sailor will be able to sail and make decisions on and off the water in good conditions. Next stage is level 3 and/or race training.
